Game-changing benefits

Why should you care? Paper Air Waybills have worked since the dawn of air cargo, and there’s no reason to fix what isn't broken, right?

What if we told you eAWBs will let you do game-changing things the paper-based process simply couldn’t provide.

Speed, transparency, accuracy

Since eAWB data comes directly from your computer, laptop or tablet, the information is as accurate and up-to-the-minute as you want it to be. Right up until the moment your shipment arrives at the station, you'll be able to make last-minute adjustments and changes in real time.

Reduced environmental footprint

Did you know our air cargo industry prints roughly 7,800 tons of paperwork every year? That’s 100,000 trees and enough paper to fill 80 747 freighters. By cutting down on paper, you’re helping go green in an industry heading that direction.

Lower shipping costs

By cutting down on printing costs, paper AWB stock purchases and the costs of getting paper with your shipments, your bottom line gets a lot of help in an unexpected place.

Connect your messaging system

For customers who'd like to use our aacargo.com portal for eAWB, you can begin doing so today. Simply access your booking dashboard to get started.

For customers with an internal system, you can connect it with us to seamlessly exchange your messages into ours. In coordination with the International Air Transport Association (IATA), customers need to establish a multilateral agreement that lets you sign one document to gain access to multiple airlines in numerous airports around the world. For domestic shipments within the U.S., there is a separate bilateral agreement.

Step 1: Have you signed the eAWB Multilateral Agreement (IATA) for international shipments or the eAWB Bilateral Agreement for Domestic U.S. shipments? Doing so allows you to transfer cargo without the printed conditions of the contract on the paper MAWB.

Note that signing the Bilateral Agreement and requesting activation will activate you for domestic lanes systemwide. Signing the Multilateral Agreement and requesting activation will activate you for all international lanes globally unless you request activation on a per station basis.
Step 2: Can you send a Freight Air Waybill (FWB) message? For customers exchanging FWB messages, you can begin doing so by exchanges messages with a CCS partner.
Step 3: If you are sending electronic AWB via aacargo.com, this will serve as an activation on a per shipment basis and no FWB message will be required.
If you are sending electronic AWB directly or through a CCS partner, you should contact your sales representative and eAWB@aa.com to get activated.
