10/10: A look back at
the best of the decade

As we close out 2019 and prepare for a new year, we've reflected upon some memorable milestones, shipments, achievements and celebrations over the last decade. Below are some of our favorites we invited you to remember with us.

 

2013: The new American Airlines
We made the historic announcement to merge with US Airways, resulting in the new American Airlines Cargo.

 

2014: American Airlines Cargo ships race cars from London for Rally Argentina
We transported nine World Rally Cars and race equipment from London to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the Rally Argentina event.

 

2015: American introduces new dedicated pharmaceutical facility in Philadelphia
We expanded our ExpediteTC services with the development of a 25,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility to allow for safe and reliable transfer of highly valuable medical and life science products.

 

2015: American first US-passenger carrier to ship new e2 unit
We became the first US-based passenger carrier to officially transport an Envirotainer e2 unit, further enhancing our TC product and capabilities.

 

2016: American Airlines Cargo transports 10,000 flags for Memorial Day event
We respectfully volunteered our services to transport 10,000 American flags (2,312 lbs) for a Memorial Day event in Washington D.C. Each flag represented every 120 service members who lost their lives in the line of duty.

 

2016: American transports rescue dogs to new homes for the holidays
We shipped 61 rescue dogs over a two-day period to ensure their arrival to their home in time for the holidays.

 

2017: American Airlines Cargo helps sharks reach their new home in Brazil
We moved two living tiger sharks and three bonnethead sharks for transport from the U.S. to South America in carefully sealed and oxygenated tanks.

 

2018: Lessons learned from a devastating hurricane season
We teamed with disaster relief organizations to bring supplies to affected areas such as Houston, Florida, and the Caribbean and developed an internal program called "Operation Puerto Rico Strong."

 

2019: American Airlines Cargo announces record-breaking year
We earned over a $1 billion in revenue and moved 2 billion pounds of cargo in 2018, setting a record for both accomplishments.

 

2019: American Airlines Cargo turns 75
We celebrated our 75th birthday on October 15, the same month we officially launched an end-to-end modernization effort that represents our single largest investment to-date.
